I'm Losing My Job, Yet I'm Happy

Few days ago I received a call from Liong Sze Jon , my company performance coordinator. He told me that, he has one bad news - I was not selected to be part of Drilling Optimization Center team. From our conversation, I was told that out client (Petronas) only required a person with more than 5 years experiences. As comparison, I only has 4.5 years of working in drilling rig as logging engineer.

I felt fed up at first. After years helping in establishing the center which is currently at Petronas twin tower, my efforts and tiredness just gone like that, because of my lack of 6 month experinece. My boss, Martin told me not to worry. This is how they do business. In fact he told me that I should be happy as I don't have to face the demanding client who actually know nothing and has very limited knowledge of what they are doing. Try to start technical conversation with them and you will know. Always made me wonder , is this the new product of KBSM and KBSR?

He was right. There was a case where Petronas only require local engineesr to work in all oil platforms in Malaysia. So my company sent many yong local engineers (including my self- that time I was just 6 month experience). Then they (Petronas) start making noise, and demanding to have more experience guys. Come on... You ask for locals, that is what you got. You see how arrogant they are? So they have no choice to get the expact to come in. Once I told my boss, you should told them that the logging job is very easy. No need experience guys, even monkey also can do it. Then they will realized they knew nothing about the job that these monkeys are doing. Well, if they feel shallow, it will shut them up.

So, Martin gave me few options. To maintain my current income, is either I go to Brunei or Miri doing the same old shit. Or else I can always going back to the field. Work in the middle of ocean, less problem , never need to see the arrogant blurry face that always lost in their own stupidity - which is my client. Or if I am willing to go for another option which is based in the office with some pay cut.

I told my boss - No. I am not going to the field again. Enough is enough. I want to have more time with my family. So I decided to go to Miri. Well the offer was not bad. I can maintain my current pay, I have schedule of my work. And hey it is Miri... What else can you do there. So it is a good time to work on some saving.

Well you see, I feel glad and happy. At least I don't have to worry about the tool problem in the hole. Worry about my family when I was away in the middle of the ocean or even a desert. And most important at all, I dont have to work in the same office with my arrogant client anymore and answering all of their "never understand but nevermind" question.

Man.......... Once you stucked in oil field, there is no way for you to get back. Oh yeah.. there is.,.. If you willing to risk your income.
